Library Load profiles--Holdings options
The Holdings page of a library load profile looks like this:
Configuration
To create a new Library Load profile, select the '_default library profile' in the drop-down menu at the top, then click the 'Save As' button and enter a new, descriptive name for the profile.
Mapping Holdings
The top section of this page controls how the holdings code will be mapped during PLP pre-processing.
'Incoming' records refers to the library source file; 'Outgoing' records refers to this source file as it will be passed to the next step in the job stream (typically, Self-PLP).
Use these options to move holdings codes in the library file to the location that they are required to be in when loading the records to the union catalog.
The option 'Use only the first [n] chars …' supports systems where the library members may append letters or numbers to an union catalog code to indicate internal locations or collections. It should be set to '0' if this is not the case.
The 'single tag/separate tag' radioboxes are relevant only if multiple holdings codes are present in the file. If the union catalog requires each holdings code to be loaded from a separate tag, select the second option:
951 $aDLC 951 $aQPQ 951 $aUKBL
Au contraire, to string the holdings together in a single tag, use the first option:
951 $aDLC $aQPQ $aUKBL
No Holdings Codes
If there are no holdings codes in the file (because the library has a single holdings code, and/or does not support the export of holdings records), check the 'Use default holdings code only' option in the 'Other Holdings' box, and enter an appropriate code in the box above.
In this case (using a default code for all records), the 'Incoming records' section of this page will be ignored. However, a valid tag/subfield still must be specified for the 'Outgoing records' section.
