 +OUTPUT OPTIONS
 +
+Depending on the type of task you are performing, different output options will be available to you on this form.
 +
+If you are running MARC Review, the available option pages are Text Output, Text Export, and MARC Output. If you are running MARC Global, the available option pages are MARC Output and Global Change.
 +
+To customize the default values on any of these forms, start MARC Review or MARC Global, click the Options button, then select the 'Output Options' page.
 +
 +TEXT OUTPUT
 +
+Use the Text Output tab to define, for each record that matches your pattern, a printable MARC record or portion thereof. (To configure the actual format of the text that is output, use the TEXT EXPORT section.)
 +
 +OUTPUT FORMAT
 +
+Select one of the following formats for your text results.
 +
 +NONE (Count Only)
 +
+Select this option if you simply want a count of the number of records that match your pattern, and do not want any output.
 +
 +ONE-LINE
 +
+Select this option to create a report where each matching record is represented by a single line of text. The one-line report is useful if you are only displaying a couple of tags per record, or just want a quick snapshot of the matching data.
 +
+One-Line Example (column 1 contains the record number, column 2 contains the 001, column 3 contains the 245):
 +
 +[1] 96054712 Gratefully yours / Jane Buchanan.
+[2] 99024009 Joey Pigza swallowed the key / Jack Gantos.
 +[3] 98022254 A letter to Mrs. Roosevelt / C. Coco De Young.
 +
 +CUSTOM RECORD
 +
+Select this option to create a report where each tag in each matching record is displayed in its entirety on a new line of text. For example:
 +
 +[Record Number 1]
 +001    96054712
 +100 1 $aBuchanan, Jane,$d1956-
 +245 10$aGratefully yours /$cJane Buchanan.
 +260   $aNew York :$bPuffin,$c1999, c1997.
 +300   $a117 p. ;$c20 cm.
 +
 +FULL RECORD
 +
+Select this option to display every tag of each matching record. Each tag is displayed in its entirety on a new line of text.
 +
 +EXPORT
 +
+Select this option to output tags in a format that can be imported by programs like Excel or Access. Click the 'Add all' button on the right if you want to output the complete record. Use the Text Export page to configure the field delimiter and other output options.
 +
 +MATCHING TAGS
 +
+This option appears only in a 'Whole Record' search (that is, a pattern where the first tag was entered as 'XXX'). When searching the whole record, sometimes it is more useful to display only the tags that contain your pattern than the Full record. This option will display the first tag--using the 'Custom' format described above--that contains a match for the XXX pattern. If the 'All' occurrences option is selected on the Pattern form, this option will automatically display all of the tags that contain a match for the XXX pattern.
 +
 +TAGS TO OUTPUT
 +
+When the Output Format is set to either 'One-Line', 'Custom Record', or 'Export', you can edit the list of tags and subfields for display.
 +
+The tags that are displayed during text output default to: 1) any tag(s) that you have set up to always be displayed using the Options (see the note below), and 2) any tags entered as Patterns (these are indicated by a plus sign).
 +
+Enter any MARC tag in the yellow box at the bottom; press the 'Add' button to add the tag to the list of 'Tags to output'
 +
+For each tag entered, the complete field is output by default. If you want to limit the output for a tag to certain subfields, enter the subfields you wish to display immediately after the tag and with no intervening spaces. For example, enter '245ab' to display only subfields $a and $b from each 245 tag. If you want to control the length of each tag that is displayed, see the section called 'FORMATTED ONE-LINE OUTPUT' below.
 +
+You can also enter tag wildcards here; for example, enter '6XX' to display all tags from 600-699.
 +
+If you want to add or change subfields for tags that have already been added to the output list, right-click on the tag and make your changes. Note that if any subfields are specified after a tag, only those subfields will be displayed.
 +
+If you want to remove a tag from the output list, remove the checkmark to the left of the tag.
 +
+If you want to change the display order of the tags in the output list, drag and drop the tags into the desired order. If you want all output tags sorted, select the 'Sort output by tag' checkbox.
 +
+If you want a tag in a Pattern to be displayed, whether it matches or not, right-click the tag and un-select the option 'Display matching tags only' (the default). This option applies only to pattern tags, not to default tags (that you defined in your output options), or additional tags (that you manually added using this form).
 +
+By default, you can only enter a tag into this list once. However, if you want to output different pieces of the same tag separately, select the 'Allow Dupes' option to the right of the Taglist. For example, if you are doing an export, and want to split the 260 into three separate output columns, select the 'Allow dupes' option and then add '260a', '260b', and '260c', one at a time, to the Taglist.
 +
 +TIPS:
+1) To quickly add tags, enter your tag in the yellow box, press <Tab> (the cursor jumps to the Add button), followed by <Enter> (the tag is added to the list, and the cursor jumps back to the edit box).
+2) If you want to always display a certain tag (like your system control number) during MARC Review, go into the Options, select the 'Output Options' page, and enter that tag into the 'Tags to Output'. Any tags you enter into this list in Options mode will be added to the 'Tags to Output' list whenever you run MARC Review.
 +
 +FORMATTED ONE-LINE OUTPUT
 +
+If you want to limit the length of a tag when it is output, right-click the tag, select the option 'Only the first', and in the box on the right, enter a number (ie how many characters you want displayed). When you return to the list of Tags to Output, the number of characters that you entered will be displayed following a slash: '245/32'. This means 'Display only the first 32 characters of the 245 field'.
 +
+If you do this for each tag in the list, you can create a tightly-formatted report like the following (where the columns below are: the record number, 001, 1XX, and 245ab, respectively):
 +
 +[1]    ocm14000033    ±aTimmermans, Ferdin ±aImpromptu±b(Hommage á Chopi
+[2]    ocm00583355    ±aPurcell Consort of ±aMusic of the early Renaissan
 +[3]    ocm04905853    ±aWillman, H. B.±q(H ±aGeologic map of Illinois
 +[4]    ocm04446516    ±aNational Geographi ±aNational Geographic picture
 +
+Remember to allow extra space to display indicators and subfields if applicable (see the HELP on the TEXT EXPORT page for more information). Also remember that this type of columnar display will only be precise when viewing or printing the output using a fixed-width font like Courier; other fonts will not maintain the order of the columns.
 +
 +You can also specify a single position when outputting a fixed field. To do this, right-click on the tag in the 'Tags to Output' list; in the Properties form that appears, select 'only position' and enter the position in the box on the right. You will need to know the position of the element you want to display (eg. to display the leader record type only, enter '06'; to display only the language code from an 008, enter '35') (RF);
 +
+NOTE: The right-click options described in this section are relevant for the One-Line or Export output types only.
 +
 +OUTPUT RECORD SEQUENCE NUMBER
 +
+By default, a 'Record sequence number' (RSN) is displayed in square brackets at the beginning of each record in text output. This RSN represents the record's position in the file, and is useful for jumping directly to a record in MARC Report. You can suppress the display of the RSN by unchecking this checkbox.
 +
 +SORT OUTPUT BY TAG
 +
+If selected, the text that is output will be sorted in tag order, even if the tags in the 'Tags to Output' list are entered in a different order.
 +
 +TEXT FILENAME
 +
+Enter the filename for the text results. By default it is set to 'mreview.txt' in the same directory as the MARC source file (the file that you are reviewing).  Click on the File Cabinet button on the right to use the Windows Save dialog to select a directory and filename.
 +
 +KNOWN TEXT OUTPUT PROBLEMS:
+1) If a Pattern uses 'Not, the program will still add the 'Not' tag to the Output list (even though it is not going to be present).
+2) If a Pattern uses 'None', entering the 'None' tag in the Output list will not display matching tags, even if they are present.
