Required User permissions on XP and W2K

NOTE: If you or your Admin need any help with setting the required permissions on XP or 2000, please feel free to call or email us.

The easiest way to fix a permissions problem for ‘Users’ is to give them ‘Full Control’ over the MARC Report installation directory (which is, by default, ‘C:\Program Files\TMQ\MARC Report’).

Here is an example of the folder properties for this.  Select ‘Full Control’ under the ‘Allow’ column, and then APPLY the changes.

If you are unable to give the user ‘Full Control’, then the following alternative should work. Click ‘Advanced’ on the Properties form (pictured above), select the entry for ‘Users’, then select ‘Edit’.

In the form that appears (pictured below), select every box under the ‘Allow’ column except ‘Full Control’ at the top, and ‘Change Permissions’ and ‘Take ownership’ at the bottom.

Click OK.

Click OK again on the ‘Advanced’ form.

Then, back at the ‘Properties’ form, be sure that ‘Modify’ is selected under the ‘Allow’ column, and then APPLY the changes:

IMPORTANT:

Since the various program logs, backup files, tables for user options, temporary files for editing records, etc., are all located in the installation directory (or subfolders of it), any permissions less than the above may cause the program to operate otherwise than it was designed to.

We cannot support a program installation without sufficient permissions, as noted above.
